SUNY Offshore Wind Power Conference 2019

Michael Saint James and Cameron McPartland will be attending the Ocean Wind Power Conference at SUNY Maritime College next Thursday, 26th September.

Along with key industry players, they will be focusing on developing the support infrastructure and skilled manpower needed to construct and then operate the extensive pipeline of offshore wind projects in the US.

They will also be available to explain how OCA are actively engaging with the market stakeholders and developing our own resources to provide local expertise to the industry.

If you are also attending and would like to learn more about how OCA can contribute to your efforts in the US offshore wind industry, please reach out to either Michael or Cameron directly or by email to usa@offshoreconstruct.com.

Engaging with Mass Maritime

OCA completed a successful visit to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay earlier this week.

We met  with faculty and students as part of OCA’s planned schedule of activities to support the industry locally in the US, following the establishment of their office in Boston earlier this year.

The visit started with a tour of the training facilities, including the new sites for the GWO offshore course equipment. This was followed with a very positive discussion with the Faculty Team regarding how OCA could support the incorporation of  offshore wind expertise into their programmes.

The visit concluded with Nick Wordsworth giving a presentation to a  keen audience of Academy students. A brief overview of the industry and process of construction was followed by a section highlighting the opportunities available for future careers. Students were then engaged in discussion about their own expectations, including the intern opportunities with OCA as detailed in the Careers section of our website.

We look forward to continuing our engagement with MMA students, faculty and alumni, and the wider maritime sector, providing our expertise where it can most add value to support the offshore wind industry in the US.

IPF 2019

Meet us at IPF 2019

Michael J. Saint James

Our lead consultant, Michael J. Saint James, will attend IPF 2019 in New York next week and is looking forward to meeting other industry professionals to learn how he and OCA might help them achieve the results they need.

Michael joined our new office in Boston earlier this year and brings with him a wealth of knowledge gained from a 40-year global maritime career. This includes six years in the offshore wind industry in Europe, where he was responsible for a fleet of large jack-up installation vessels.

Using his network of industry connections throughout Europe and the US, Michael continues to facilitate collaboration with OEMs, developers and others, to constantly update and refine industry best-practice guidance, to ensure as close an alignment as possible on both sides of the Atlantic.

We hope the additional experience and expertise available to Michael within OCA will further enhance the contribution he is making to US offshore wind  as it continues its rapid evolution.

OCA looks forward to capitalizing on offshore wind opportunities in the U.S. and is currently recruiting for a number of US-based roles in the Northeast.
