OCA is committed to adding value to the communities in which we live and work and recently Marketing Manager, Sally Wordsworth had the opportunity to bring this to life and visited a nearby primary school in East Yorkshire to talk about Renewable Energy and Offshore Wind.
In this part of the UK, many of the pupils have seen the offshore wind farms off the East Yorkshire coast as well as onshore sites being developed for the Dogger Bank project, so it was great to explain to them a bit more about how wind energy works and what is involved in wind farm construction. The children were fascinated by how much power can be generated and the size and weight of the turbines and the vessels required to install them!
OCA is a supporter of the Tomorrow’s Engineers code and this was a great way to add something different to the children’s STEM learning and hopefully inspire them to find out more.
